Car Share or Car Sharing is exactly the same as car hire or car rental. There is no siginificant difference except with car share you are required to pay a security deposit and joining fee. Most car rental companies have eco cars, green cars and hybrid cars on fleet and have done so for many years. Melbourne Car Rental offers a VIP Membership and eco friendly cars. You also get more flexibility with kilometers as Melbourne Car Rental offer unlimited klm rates and limited klm rates to suit your budget and travel plans.
How do I Book?
Once you have confirmed you want to the book the vehicle a min deposit of $100 is required for cars, and $200 required for speciality vehicles, 7-8 seater minibuses. This can be paid on Credit Card or Debit Visa Card. This amount is then deducted from the total rental price. We then send you a email confirmation with all your booking details and collection information.
What drivers licences do you accept?
Min age required is 21 years. We accept most Nationality drivers licences in english. Non english drivers licence will require either a translation document stamped or an International Drivers licence. We do not offer an airport service for drivers over 75 years. Drivers over 75 years must attend city office for all inquiries. We accept Malayasian, Indonesian, Singaporean, Hong Kong, Thailand, New Zealand, UK, USA, South African, and most european drivers licences. Email us for any further inquiries with this.
Are all your fleet new and fully maintained?
All our fleet vehicles are fully maintained, eco friendly and are no older than 3 years with full service records and RWC. We are constantly upgrading our fleet and have a good supply of brand new (less than 6 months) eco friendly vehicles at all times.
How does your Airport Service work?
We have 10 years experience with providing a Melbourne Airport Car Rental Service. We guarantee 100% reliability and speed of service 24 hours a day for pre-booked rentals. Once your booking has been confirmed we send you an email confirmation which has all your airport collection information carefully explained. The Airport Shuttle bus will collect and deliver you to your car within 10-15 minutes. This service is very streamlined and hassle free. You return our hire vehicle back to our airport service at the end of your rental and a shuttle bus willl transport you back to the Airport terminal of your choice. Complimentry Road Directories, with CityLink & Eastlink Tollways Information are placed in every vehicle we rent from the airport. We can provide written travel information about lots of area's in Victoria you may want to visit and can suggest some you haven't thought of. GPS's are also available.
Are the Electronic Toll Roads in Melbourne Difficult to Understand?
We provide full information in every rental we rent. There are also click through Icons for both Toll Road Companies on the Home page of this site - CityLink & Connect East. You can pay direct online, over the phone or at a Post Office. You can also arrange to have prepaid Tollways Passes with us direct when you book. Cost for this is $20 per day usage pass if you purchase through Melbourne Car Rental.
Do you offer Reduction Waivers for Single Vehicle Accident Cover?
Standard Liability is $2750 MVA - $5000 SVA (25-70 years drivers) $3300 MVA - $5000 SVA (21-24 years drivers).
Yes we offer SVA reduction waivers at $27 a day to reduce SVA from the standard $5000 down to $250 SVA Liability and MVA (Multi Vehicle Accident)from $2750 liability to $0 Liability ( 21-24 years - $250 MVA, $1050 SVA). $12.00 a day option reduces MVA to $250 and SVA to $1500. $7.00 a day option reduces liability to $550 MVA and $2500 SVA. There is no cover for proven negligent driving, failure to notify an accident, or violation of traffic laws. Renters travelling to the ski fields have a standard liability of $2750 (25 yrs +) or $3300 (21-24yrs) above the snowline, this is not reduceable for under 25 years drivers. What is your Cancellation Policy?
Minimum booking fee for cars is $100. Specialty vehicles (7-8 seaters, Wagons and Utes) $200. For all Melbourne City and Airport bookings a cancellation fee of $100 applies to all cancelled bookings. For Airport bookings if cancelled within 96 hours of collection full cost of rental applies. You can defer your booking for up to 3 months if you have a change of schedule within 7 days from the collection date.
Do you offer Roadside Assist?
Yes we can arrange 24hr roadside assist with our vehicles.
Do you offer unlimited kilometers?
Yes we offer unlimited kilometer rates within Victoria and interstate. We also have reduced rates for 100klm's and 200klm's free per day for budget travel. We have special 1 day hire rates with 100klms free per day and 200 klm's free per day.
Are there any Hidden Fees?
There are no hidden fees in every quote we give. There are options on reduction waivers if you choose. The quoted price is the price.
Are your vehicles allowed to travel interstate?
Yes, we offer interstate rates for interstate travel to SA, NSW, ACT, TAS, QLD. One way rentals (min 5-7 day rentals) are available to Mildura, Adelaide, & Gold Coast.
Can we pay by Debit Visa Card?
Yes, a $500 Pre Authorisation is required for Debit Visa Payment for drivers 21yrs -24yrs only. A 5.75% fee applies to all Amex Card (American Express) transactions.
Do you offer special Travel Club and Travel Agents Discounts?
Yes we can accomodate most Travel Clubs, RAC, all AA members and Travel Agents with a 10% discount.
